2017 Hometown Heroes Nominees

Tie Paulino

High Point Police Department nominated by Carolina Kia and her peers for helping an individual who suffers from mental health problems. Officer Paulino has helped this individual numerous times with meals, clothes, and shoes in which she purchases with her own money.

Bob Adams

Fuquay Police nominated by Hiester Chevrolet and his peers for his service as a police officer. He has served 24 years.

Jacques Gilbert

Apex Police Department nominated by Hiester Chevrolet and his peers for his work throughout the community of Apex. Most recently he helped open the Rodgers Family Skate Plaza, which say Captain Gilbert reconized as a Champion for Change at the White House.

Spencer Teffeteller

Retired from Angier & Black River Fire Department nominated by Hiester Chevrolet and his peers for an exemplary career as a fireman. 32 years to be exact.

Joey Garren

Henderson County Sheriff’s Office nominated by Hunter Nissan and his peers for off duty work in bringing a shop lifter down after he became agitated when employees of the store confronted him.

Jared Morgan

Hendersonville Fire Department nominated by Hunter Subuaru and his peers for responding to a call with an elderly man. The man had no smoke detectors in his house so Jared bought and installed four with his own money.

Joseph Logan

High Point Police Department nominated by Ilderton Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and his peers for assisting with the rescue of an individual from a burning house.

Scott Watts

Durham Fire Department nominated by Johnson Lexus of Durham and his peers for embodying the team atmosphere that is necessary for firefighter operations.

Lewis Lovell

City of Raleigh Fire Department nominated by Johnson Lexus of Raleigh for his work during the downtown Raleigh fire on March 16th. This award recognizes all First Responders that helped that night. Mr. Lovell worked Ladder 4 during the fire.

Kevin Radford

City of Raleigh Fire Department nominated by Johnson Lexus of Raleigh for his work during the downtown Raleigh fire on March 16th. This award is also in recognition to all First Responders that helped that night. Mr. Radford also worked Ladder 4 during the fire in tandem with Mr. Lovell.

Cary EMS nominated by Johnson Maserati of Cary and her peers for being a true team player that helps her fellow staff in accomplishing any task.

Kevin West

Town of Cary Police Department nominated by Johnson Subaru and his peers for work regarding internet crimes against children.

William Browne Jr.

Cornelius Police Department nominated by Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and his peers for helping save the life of Jack Salzman who suffered from a heart attack on May 30th. Mr. Browne has a defibrillator which helped tremendously.

John Lang Jr.

Cornelius Lemley Fire Department nominated by Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and his peers for helping save the life of Jack Salzman who suffered from a heart attack on May 30th.

Megan Vlasis-Howe

Jacksonville Public Safety nominated by Sanders Ford and her peers for her all around determination. She works as a Telecommunicator, a single Mom, and has a full course-load at the University of Mount Olive.

Daniel Karratti

Jacksonville Police Department nominated by Sanders Ford and his peers for his excellent service as a Lead Detective in JPD’s Investigative Services Division.

Jerry Pennington

Jacksonville Fire & Emergency nominated by Sanders Ford and his peers for his public service career. Recently named Fire Officer of the Year by his agency.

Jacksonville Police Department nominated by Sanders Ford and his peers for being an excellent Community Officer. He is considered by his peers as the “go-to-guy”.

Bryan Stitz

Jacksonville Police Department nominated by Sanders Ford and his peers for his excellent work in making dozens of DWI arrests in the past several years.

Jennifer Osborn

Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office nominated by Swain Chevrolet and her peers for saving a man’s life from choking at a Halloween party. Mrs. Osborn was off duty.

James Bliss

Gastonia Police Department nominated by Tindol Ford and his peers for exceptional performance as a cybercrimes/fraud investigator, working 137 cases so far this year.

Lynn Drum

Gaston County EMS nominated by Tindol Ford and her peers for faithfully serving the residents of Gaston County as an EMT or paramedic since 1989.

Nicholas Lane

Gastonia Fire Department nominated by Tindol Subaru and his peers for assisting an attempted rescue of a mountain climber that had repelled from a ledge and fallen. Mr. Lane was off duty at the time.

Michael Lewis

Gastonia City Police Department nominated by Tindol Subaru and his peers for being an outstanding K-9 officer and assisting in the vehicle pursuit and apprehension of a wanted murder suspect from Georgia.

Tracy Bruno

Morehead City Police Department nominated by Toler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and her peers for working full time as an officer and acting paramedic.

Jonathan Sloan

Morehead City Police Department nominated by Toler Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and his peers for setting the example of a full time officer, detective, and SWAT officer.
